Plant mode
cTrader Copy is a powerful tool that is in high demand among professional traders, partners and regular investors. Plant mode is a means of changing the rules of engagement with the Copy service at scale.
There are three plant modes:
- Full
- Isolated
- Free
To leverage the full functionality of cTrader Copy, we highly recommend choosing full mode as your plant mode and avoiding any restrictions at the white label level. Any other arrangement may not generate the same revenue streams as the configuration described above.
Full mode
Brokers operating in full mode allow their traders to freely view and invest in strategies whose providers are registered with other brokers on plants that also operate in full mode, with no restrictions.
Benefits:
- Brokers gain the strongest potential for generating revenue streams from cTrader Copy.
- Strategy providers can attract investors across participating brokers.
- Investors gain access to a wider range of strategies based on their risk tolerance and other factors.
- Broader strategy availability can help increase new trader inflows and incentivise live account creation for investment in profitable strategies.
Requirements:
- The broker must have at least one
livetrading environment established and configured. - The broker must maintain a collateral balance.
The collateral balance is needed to settle Copy-related transactions, including cross-broker transactions and the collection of the 30% Spotware commission out of the fees earned by strategy providers. It is not an additional broker fee or charge; it remains the broker’s funds and can be withdrawn at any time.
Isolated mode
Brokers operating in isolated mode confine their Copy service to one plant and any white labels that exist on that plant. Investors registered on this plant cannot allocate funds to strategies whose providers are registered on a different plant, and strategy providers from this plant cannot attract investors from outside it.
Key characteristics:
- Copy-related fund flows are kept strictly within one plant and its white labels.
- Investors can allocate funds only to strategies provided within the same plant.
- Strategy providers can attract only investors registered within that plant.
Requirements:
- The broker must have at least one
livetrading environment established and configured. - The broker must maintain a collateral balance.
The collateral balance is needed to collect the 30% Spotware commission out of the fees earned by strategy providers. It is not an additional broker fee or charge; it remains the broker’s funds and can be withdrawn at any time.
Free mode
Brokers operating in free mode allow their traders to access and invest only in free strategies, meaning strategies whose providers do not charge any fees. There are no restrictions on the brokers with which the providers of these free strategies may be registered. Strategy providers registered on plants with free mode cannot charge fees to investors.
Key characteristics:
- Investors can access only free strategies.
- Strategy providers cannot charge fees to investors.
- No collateral balance is required.
Requirements:
- The broker must have at least one
demotrading environment configured and established.
Free mode can be used to test how cTrader Copy fits into a broker’s existing value proposition. However, it limits the selection of strategies available to investors and does not allow strategy providers to earn funds through fees.
